Choa Saiden Shah is a small town and sub Tehsil Head Quarter of District Chakwal in the Punjab Province of Pakistan. The site is located at 32°43'ON 72°59'OE with an altitude of 676 metres (2221 feet), 35 Kilometers south of Chakwal on the Chakwal-Khewra Road. Choa Saidan Shah is surrounded by lush green hills. It is a picturesque sight. It takes a little to reach Katasraj by road – one has to go off the M2 motorway Islamabad to Lahore at the KallarKhar interchange then follow the road to Choa Saiden Shah for 24 km; just past the cement factories going through the temple complex you are there at “Katas Raj” The History of “Katas Raj” dates to Maha Bharat written in 300 BC.
This shows that the beautiful valley of Choa Saiden Shah was center of Culture and Enlightenment even in those ancient days. The remnants of Hindu Temples and Budhist stupas are an evidence of the pivotal position held by this area as a meeting place of glorious civilizations produced by these religions of the past. The monuments at Katas Raj remind us of the epic grandeur of this area as a Seat of Learning and Fulcrum of Divine influences marvelously eulogized in the legendary epic poem of Maha Bharat. It is well known how the five Pandua brothers, heroes of the Sanskrit poem stayed here for four out of the fourteen years of their exile.
The story of Shiv god’s love for his wife Satti after whose death Shiva carried and shed tears so profusely that two holy ponds were created at pushkara in Ajmer and Kateksha (“raining eyes”) respectively. Later on kateksha became famous as katas. The area, distinguished already in respect of its Beauty of Nature, has once againg reawakened from its slumber as a source of Nature and renewed itself as a provider of up-to-date leaning in accordance with the all-pervading spirit of the Great Civilization of Islam.
The Cadet College Choa Saiden Shah aims at achievement of the cherished goal of preparing students to face the global challenges to acquire essential awareness about the progress needed to be made in the fields of science for times of peace as well as war. The college will ensure that the minds its alumni are well equipped for planning to defend the country in face of any aggression and to promote the activities needed to keep themselves abreast of the contemporary developments in all branches of scientific knowledge. College Campus: Cadet College Choa Saiden Shah District Chakwal is conspicuously located near “Katas Raj”. Beautiful picturesque natural surroundings add grace to the college environment. There are lush Green Mountain all around the College Campus. It is an autonomous institution of Government of Punjab which is scheduled to launch its first intake of 90 students from the next academic year which will start from April 2011.
The College land has an area of 1168 kanals (146 Acres). The Foundation Stone of the college was laid on july 30, 2006 by the President of Pakistan General Pervaiz Musharraf. A sum of Rs:262 Million was utilized up to now for construction of phase-I which is near completion. The College is a fully residential institution providing numerous so curricular activities and prepares boys for the secondary and intermediate examination conducted by the Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Rawalpindi. The campus has a capacious double story Academic Block for 300 cadets but this state of the art building has a capacity to accommodate more than 500 cadets. One hostel, Cadet Mess, Administration Block, a ten-bed Hospital, Service Block, a beautiful Mosque, Principal’s Residence besides several play-grounds under construction including Hockey, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Cricket field and athletic track like oval like ground. It is the first phase of the college yet the remaining portion of the buildings are likely to be completed in phase II & III up to 2015. The buildings boasts of modern architecture displaying the character of the area. This is a mega project in the history of Chakwal District. At first this scheme was approved with the cost of 190.00 Million; then it was revised with a sum of Rs:381.158 Million was allocated for the first phase, fund provided by the Federal Government. NESPAK is the consultant of the Project. A skeleton staff has been recruited to execute the project and make it functional. The students of this college will be “Chakwalians”.
